Interim Secret Service director: Scrutiny could have "dire consequences"

Joe Clancy, the interim director of the U.S. Secret Service, will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that his organization has “fallen short” of its goals and recent public scrutiny of the agency has “potentially dire consequences,” according to his prepared remarks.

Clancy — tapped to lead the agency last month after President Obama accepted the resignation of former Secret Service Director Julia Pierson following a string of security gaffes — did not list in his remarks what those potential consequences could be.
