GOP campaigns seek out McCain

“I look forward to it,” McCain said of his pre-election plans. “I’m going to Oregon , I’m going to North Carolina. “I’m going to a couple other places. You know how it is, these last couple of months. ‘Hey go there. We need you to go there,’”

McCain is one of the best known Republicans in the country, but his frequent dalliances from Republican orthodoxy on issues like guns and immigration may not have helped Republican candidates vying for the title of most conservative during the primary season. But now with only Democrats on the horizon, McCain indicated he’d feel welcome at any competitive race in the country.

“There is no place that I can think of, now that the primaries are over,” McCain said. “There was not a great demand before the primaries. Isn’t it strange how your popularity all of sudden” goes up?
