Marco Rubio rejects impeachment talk

“Well, I’m not, at this point, calling for impeachment,” Rubio, a Florida Republican, told CNN on Wednesday. “The president has two years left in his term. We hope they pass quickly, that he will — that we can somehow have a majority here in the Senate so we can limit the amount of damage he’s doing to our economy and our national security.”

Rubio’s comments came after South Carolina’s Graham said Wednesday that if Obama were to release more prisoners from Guantánamo Bay without consulting with Congress, Republican lawmakers could call for his impeachment, according to The Hill. Graham’s terms of impeachment are based on language in the Defense Authorization Act that calls for the executive administration to notify Congress 30 days before a terrorist detainee is moved or released.
