Christie made an abbreviated weekend trip to Washington as chairman of the Republican Governors Association and mostly dodged questions about a traffic scandal that’s dogging him and his administration.
“Yes, I think he can be, has been an effective leader of RGA,” Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal told reporters at a news conference. “I think he should remain. “In Texas, we’ve got an open governor’s race for the first time in 100 years,” Jindal joked to Gov. Rick Perry, who joined him at the news conference and is planning to end his run as longest-serving governor of the Lone Star State. “Rick Perry’s not going to be on the ballot. “I would appear with any of my governor colleagues publicly,” Haley said at the news conference. “I’m incredibly proud of every single one of them.”
