Just 26 percent of those polled by the Pew Research Center believe that the Assad regime will relinquish its chemical weapon stockpiles—which up until last week Syrian officials firmly denied existed—compared to 57 percent who believe the Assad government will hold on to the weapons.

In the case that Syria fails to turn over its chemical weapons, only 37 percent of those polled favor a military strike, while 49 percent oppose military involvement.
