The Obama administration is considering launching a military action against Syria after the country’s leaders allegedly used chemical weapons against its citizens, violating a “red line” that was laid out by President Obama last year.
The national airline of a nearby country, Cyprus Airways, said on Friday that it was altering its schedule for flights from Larnaca, Cyprus to Beirut to avoid leaving planes near Syria overnight, when U.S. bombing campaigns are most likely to occur.
“The departure time from Larnaca Airport has been brought forward from 20:30 in the evening to 05.15 in the morning local time,” the airline said in a statement. “The change was decided so that the aircraft does not remain on the ground at Beirut Airport overnight. Similar arrangements have been made by other airlines.
