Let the 2013 (re-)selling of ObamaCare begin

Tara McGuinness, a new senior communications adviser at the White House who is leading health law outreach efforts has been at the recent Democratic gatherings. She met House Democrats on Wednesday. Before the Memorial Day recess Democratic lawmakers and staff in the House and Senate met separately with McGuinness and Jeanne Lambrew from the White House, Mike Hash from the HHS Office of Health Reform, and Small Business Administration officials, including Administrator Karen Mills.

The focus now for Democrats is encouraging people to enroll in the marketplaces, which are the Expedia-like Web portals at which people can sign up for health insurance plans and find out if they’re eligible for subsidies…

The portals will be unfamiliar to constituents, particularly seniors or people without tech know-how. House Democrats say they’re already getting questions from constituents on how it will work. Wednesday’s meeting walked lawmakers through a nuts-and-bolts outline of questions constituents will ask and how to get answers, according to members who attended.

“It was basically a working meeting: This is who you talk to in your states, this is how you get information,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) “There’s a lot of misinformation out there for small businesses … it’s basically how to interface to get the information out — no they don’t have to do this, no they don’t have to do that, this is the benefit, this is where they apply.”
