Both of those issues, as well as Romney’s struggle to appeal to women and Latinos, largely fell out of the news, along with the protesters, Biden and all of the noise Ron Paul’s legion of supporters was making in opposition to the party’s platform.

So doesn’t that make this something of a win for Romney?

“I don’t know. Maybe,” Republican operative Mark Salter told RCP. “But the hurricane could be a problem in other ways stealing airtime and probably giving some of it to Obama.”
