Government Motors to recall 413,418 American-made Chevy Cruze sedans

General Motors Co. said Friday it will recall 413,418 U.S. built Chevrolet Cruze sedans to modify a faulty part that could allow liquids to become trapped in the engine compartment and cause fires.

The company said no crashes, injuries or fatalities have been reported as a result of the problem. The Cruze is built and sold globally, but only those cars built in Lordstown, Ohio, and sold in the U.S. and Canada, and several hundred exported to Israel are affected. …

Federal regulators opened a preliminary investigation in April following two engine-compartment fires in Cruzes.
