The couple’s daughter left home about a year ago and they discovered she was appearing in escort ads and working for Sneed, the Times reported. They tried to persuade her to return home, the newspaper said.

During an attempt on Sneed’s life on May 27, Gilton fired a handgun at him while he sat in a car in North Hollywood, the Times quoted officials as saying. Police said Sneed was injured by shattered glass but refused to cooperate with police, the Times reported.

The weekend before the second shooting, officials said, the daughter visited a sick relative and argued with her parents, who insisted that Sneed leave, the Times reported.
