Incumbent: GOP Rep. Allen West

This Palm Beach-area seat broke for Democrats in 2006 after being held by GOP Rep. Clay Shaw for more than two decades, but the tea party’s favorite son, West, brought it back into the red column. With Republicans pounding Obama over his policies toward Israel, the West race — taking place in a South Florida district rife with Jewish retirees — will be a crucial test of Obama’s Jewish support. Just as critically, the race will provide a measure of the public’s support for the tea party two years after it fueled a House GOP takeover.
