News of Steve Jobs's death may break Internet records

Steve Jobs’ death may have broken Internet records, according to the Australian social media monitoring firm SR7, which estimated that Twitter hit 10,000 tweets per second on Wednesday afternoon on the news of the Apple co-founder’s passing. That would beat the previous record of 8,868 tweets per second set by Beyonce when she announced her pregnancy on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards in August…

Social media search engine Topsy showed that over three million tweets had been sent about Steve Jobs between Wednesday and Thursday morning. The peak was reached early Thursday morning when over 555,000 tweets were sent mentioning his name.
