Hammond said the appearances coincide with several “West Coast fundraising swing” events. Gingrich has struggled to raise money during the campaign and opted out of spending the funds to participate in the Ames Straw Poll.

While in Hawaii, Gingrich on Aug. 20 will travel to Wailuku to for a meeting with the Maui GOP. And on Aug. 23, Gingrich “will discuss the American founding” with students at Seabury Hall Preparatory School in Makawao.
