Stewart said point-blank, “Should they have fired him? No,” explaining that “with the crap you guys [at CNN] have put on over the last 10 years,” Sanchez didn’t stand out as doing a particularly bad job. (That was one of many shots at CNN.) He further said that he thinks the idea that someone could be be fired over such comments “absolute insanity,” and that he wasn’t “personally hurt.”
Stewart reiterated what he said on The Daily Show that he “wasn’t crazy about” Sanchez’ program and that he’s “a ham,” but definitely doesn’t seem to hold a grudge against the guy, saying if the real reason he got fired was calling Stewart a bigot, then “hire him back tomorrow.
