Maybe I can help Joe here – Hollywood has been anti-military since the Vietnam war and very sensitive to ethnics since the civil rights era. Corporate baddies, especially white ones, are always in play; Nazis are also fair game.
The anti-military rule was suspended briefly for Top Gun and again for about ten minutes after 9/11, but the war in Iraq restored Hollywood to its default state. “True Lies” by Avatar director James Cameron is everybody’s pick for a movie which boldly had Middle Eastern terrorists as the bad guys, but that was in 1994 (eerily prescient, but not done today).
At the other end of the spectrum, Green has been Good for decades.
Check the top grossing films from 2007, 2008, and 2009 – I welcome assistance but Middle Eastern bad guys are thin on the ground.
