Ted Koppel likely to replace Stephanopoulos at "This Week"

ABC News is negotiating with “Nightline” founder Ted Koppel, a 42-year veteran of the network, to return for a potential $1 million-a-year contract to anchor “This Week” three Sundays a month, broadcast industry sources said.

The fourth Sunday would rotate among potential future anchors from the network’s Washington bureau.

Friends say Koppel would most like to be secretary of state, but that this perch might be a satisfactory alternative.
