Honest to Pete, I don't know how the people at Babylon Bee do it. This campaign cycle's level of absurdity is getting to the point where it's literally beyond the ability to write parody.
Do you remember all the way back to the 2020 campaign? Joe Biden, from his basement on May 22nd, video linked into the Breakfast Club with Charlamagne Tha God. At the end of the interview, Charlamagne was baiting Biden, as most radio hosts would, to come back in the future.
After the dust settled in November, the Roper Center at Cornell University reported that 87% of Black voters did indeed vote for Joe Biden, making them, according to Biden, Black.
Now flash forward to Thursday night. Former President Barack Obama was the headliner at a rally in greater Pittsburgh, but prior to that, he spoke at a campaign office focusing on Black voter turnout in East Liberty, which is on the east end of Pittsburgh. He had some harsh words for what he called 'The Brothers' - Black male voters that historically have voted Democratic.
Barack Obama is someone with whom I disagree on policy and tactics nearly 100% of the time. That said, he is one of the smoother orators of our time. He can string sentences together with ease. Former President Bill Clinton had that gift as well. So did Ronald Reagan. While not as clunky as Joe Biden's 2020 remarks about Blacks, this is the closing message from perhaps the Democrats' biggest hitter called in off the bench down the stretch? Lecturing and shaming Black males for legitimate concerns they about voting for an insincere idiot?
Thursday was truly a remarkably telling night for the Democratic Party and how they think the 2024 campaign is going. While Barack Obama was in Pittsburgh chastising Blacks, Kamala Harris was out in Las Vegas trying to shore up support with Latinos by conducting a town hall on Univision. Since she's speaking to a Latino audience, she naturally assumes that they must want a pathway to citizenship. Some of them do. A lot of them do not.
There are many reasons why Kamala Harris is hemorrhaging Latino voters. In fact, she's losing more Latinos than she is with Blacks. Inflation concerns are the primary reason, but a large percentage of Latinos who are either American by birth, or are Latinos who immigrated to this country legally don't actually like the fact that millions of people are essentially cutting in line. This is just not a winning message being offered by Harris, and even a poll out of USA Today backs that up today.
Vice President Kamala Harris is losing support among young Latino men, even as she continues to hold a lead over Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump among Latino voters in Arizona and Nevada – two key states that will help determine the 2024 election, according to two exclusive new USA TODAY/Suffolk University polls.
Tim Walz held a rally in Phoenix Thursday and tried out the same line in a border state whose infrastructure is nearing the breaking point because of illegal immigration.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer put on her priestly garments, which consisted in this viral video of a Harris/Walz camo cap, and gave the feminists' version of the Eucharist to Vice and NBC News contributor Liz Plank.
There are 1.74 million Catholics living in Michigan, accounting for 17.5% of the state's population. There are seven archdioceses and 616 parishes in the Wolverine State, 224 parishes alone in Detroit. Whitmer is one of the top Harris/Walz surrogates in a state where recent battleground polling has flipped it to Donald Trump in the Real Clear Politics average. And three weeks out, mocking one of the most sacred rituals in Catholicism, substituting a Nacho Cheese Dorito for the wafer representing the body of Christ, with Whitmer as the priestess/dominatrix, that's the way to go?
The Harris/Walz campaign is still in trouble with military veterans because of Tim's long track record of playing fast and loose with his service in the National Guard, and under what circumstances he bailed out in order to avoid being forward deployed to the Middle East during the war on terror. He's been hamstrung in his ability to assist the ticket, because he's had to play whack-a-mole against stolen valor charges. In Beloit, Wisconsin on Thursday, Tim's wife, Gwen, held a rally of her own. You know Gwen, right? She's the one who liked to have the windows open at their home in the Twin Cities while Minneapolis rioters were burning the city down in order to catch a whiff of the burning tire and building smoke, because it smelled like revolution. Here's Gwen's attempt to restore the campaign's trust with Marines - by rewriting the lyrics of the Marine Hymn to make it partisan, political, and pathetic.
Blacks, Latinos, Catholics, and Marines all were lectured, stereotyped, pandered, mocked, and/or desecrated by the Democratic Party...on Thursday. Does this party actually want to win the election? In what universe would any Democratic consultant - David Axelrod, James Carville, David Plouffe, Paul Begala, run a campaign this way while voters are already beginning to vote?
I remind you, Friday has just begun. The week is not yet over. I fully expect by the close of business today, the Democratic Party will take on special needs kids, puppies, the homeless, and Methodists. They're running out of other demographic groups to piss off.
