It’s hard out there for a mass murderer, ya’ll. He kills 77 people via bombing and mass shooting, is sentenced to a term of merely 21 years (although, if he is still considered dangerous, a.k.a. flipping insane, it isn’t likely he’ll ever be released, thank the Lord), and is serving out that term in one of the rather accommodating prisons on which Norway prides itself. He’s kept in isolation for security reasons (in his own suite, complete with gym equipment and laptop), and since his behavior so far, he argues, has been so very “exemplary,” he’d be super appreciative if he could finally stop being treated so poorly and get some better amenities. Like, you know, a PS3 — because the PS2 he’s been living with is just not up to par. Oh, the humanity:
Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik threatened to go on hunger strike for better video games and other perks to alleviate his “torture”-like prison conditions, in a letter received by AFP Friday. …
The demands include better conditions for his daily walk and the right to communicate more freely with the outside world, which he argues are in line with European rights legislation.
He also demanded the replacement of a PlayStation 2 games console for a more recent PS3 “with access to more adult games that I get to choose myself” as well as a sofa or armchair instead of a “painful” chair.
“Other inmates have access to adult games while I only have the right to play less interesting kids games. One example is “Rayman Revolution”, a game aimed at three year olds,” wrote the 35-year-old convicted killer. …
Breivik also wants his standard weekly allowance of 300 kroner ($49, 36 euros) to be doubled, particularly to cover his postal charges for written correspondence.
The heart. It bleeds.
