Today's Deep October 7 Question: Why Does United Have a CAIR VP Flying Routes?

Three years ago today, Hamas launched a grotesque massacre of civilians in Israel, attacking kibbutzim and a music festival, raping and murdering across southern Lebanon and kidnapping 250 people. Another 1,200-plus died in the attack, which came in violation of a cease-fire brokered by the US and accepted by Israel under pressure. Hamas' war started with the worst single-day loss of Jewish life since World War II, and they have been playing the victim ever since – with the support of moral idiots in the West, and boosted by propagandists at CAIR and ISNA, not to mention Academia.

The dangers of this campaign became apparent last week, when a FlyDubai pilot attempted to seize control of a flight to Tel Aviv and create a 9/11 for Israel. Only the bravery of the flight's captain, Smit Machchhar, and the passengers averted disaster at the last moment. The incident raised questions about UAE security protocols, as the copilot had been known as an Islamist extremist and should never have been in the cockpit in the first place.

That brings us to United Airlines. Shortly after the October 7 massacres, one of its pilots began posting Hamas propaganda on social media, and concerns immediately arose:

"How can Jewish passengers feel safe with this man flying their plane?" asked the account immediately after the 10/7 massacres. After last week, the question should be: how can anyone feel safe with this man flying their plane? After all, the FlyDubai terrorist pilot would have killed everyone on the plane regardless of creed, and perhaps thousands on the ground at Ben Gurion Airport, had he succeeded in his terror plot.

When Mossallam's Facebook post went viral, United suspended him from flight duties. However, Mossallam has quietly returned to flying United routes, according to Libby Alon, the White House correspondent for Israel's Channel 14 news. Not only has Mossallam been allowed to fly, but he also remains a board member of CAIR's New York branch, supporting Hamas and backing the radical protests demanding the destruction of the state of Israel (via Instapundit):

Ibrahim R. Mossallam was temporarily removed from flying duties after the post sparked outrage, but later returned to the cockpit. Since then, he has continued posting strongly anti-Israel statements.

Mossallam also serves as Vice President of the Board of CAIR-New York.

I asked United a simple question: Why is he still flying passengers?

As of now, United has not provided an official response.

Reportedly, United attempted to dismiss Mossallam after suspending him, but the pilot's union successfully defended him and restored his flight status. According to Alon, however, confidence in Mossallam among pilots has been hardly unanimous. Two United pilots deadheading on a recent Mossallam flight insisted on sitting in the cockpit to ensure Mossallam didn't attempt a copycat:

Since then, he has continued posting strongly anti-Israel statements. Just as alarming, Mossallam also serves as Vice President of the Board of terrorist organization CAIR-New York. Texas Governor Greg Abbott designated CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign/transnational terrorist and criminal organizations in November 2025. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis formally approved the state-level designation of CAIR as a domestic terrorist group in September 2026. Even the UAE designated CAIR as a terrorist organization in 2014.

Two United Airlines pilots deadheading on a flight operated by Ibrahim Mossallam after his return from a leave of absence reportedly gave up their first-class seats and spent the entire flight in the cockpit instead.

According to sources familiar with the incident, they did not trust him and wanted to keep a close eye on him throughout the flight. Sources also say United wanted to terminate Mossallam’s employment, but the pilots’ union blocked the move.

At least a couple of pilots wanted to live a little more than they wanted to be woke. Maybe they should spread the word to their union leadership.

This raises all sorts of questions, especially with Mossallam's links to CAIR, already an unindicted co-conspirator (along with ISNA) in a terror-financing case. CAIR also has links to the Muslim Brotherhood, as does Hamas, a well-known organizer of terrorism. The US has not designated CAIR a terrorist organization, although both Texas and Florida have, which would have made it easier for United to terminate Mossallam. Still, the Department of Homeland Security and/or the FAA should have the authority to intervene to at least ground Mossallam.

The Trump administration needs to rectify this by following the lead of Abbott and DeSantis, and add CAIR and ISNA to the State Department list of terror-related orgs. Especially after the near-miss with FlyDubai last week, we need to secure our commercial air industry by ensuring that pilots are just as reliable as their passengers that have to endure TSA searches just to get to their gates. United has some explaining to do here, but so do the FAA, DHS, and the State Department.
