Males in Girl's Sports? That's Crazy, Says ...

Dude ... he's running. On running dudes. Or is Gavin Newsom just running his mouth?

Give Newsom this much credit -- he's at least responsive to the obvious. California's full-time podcaster and sometimes governor sat down with Salem Radio host Charlie Kirk as part of his new "man in the middle" political transformation for his presidential-primary bid in 2028. The man Politico describes as "a pioneer for LGBTQ+ rights" suddenly has a T deficiency after watching Kamala Harris get obliterated over support for males competing in girl's sports:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a pioneer for LGBTQ+ rights who decades ago upset leaders in his own party when he defied state law and issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples, suggested Democrats were in the wrong in allowing transgender athletes to participate in female college and youth sports.

“I think it’s an issue of fairness, I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness — it’s deeply unfair,” Newsom said in his debut podcast episode of “This is Gavin Newsom.” “I am not wrestling with the fairness issue. I totally agree with you.” ...

Kirk challenged Newsom, a likely 2028 presidential hopeful, to speak out against AB Hernandez, a transgender high school track star from California whose triple jump event in the women’s competition is drawing fierce backlash from the right. Newsom said he has four children of his own — including two daughters — and noted that both he and his wife participated in college-level sports, she in soccer and he in baseball.

“I revere sports, so the issue of fairness is completely legit,” Newsom said. “And I saw that — the last couple years, boy did I [see] how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level.”

But would a President Newsom actually do anything about it? Scratch that -- would Governor Newsom do anything about it? At least as far as Politico's report goes, the answer appears to be no. Newsom admits that Democrats are getting "crushed" on the issue, and that Republicans appear to have the public on their side over protecting females from male encroachment on spaces and athletic competition. He talks about how it might impact his own daughters, and so on and so forth.

But what would Newsom do, other than just nod and appreciate Kirk's position in a public forum? It certainly doesn't sound like Newsom is prepared to take any action to defy his progressive-elite allies:

He said the authority for trans K-12 athletes competing in girls and womens sports came from a 2014 state law — signed by then-Gov. Jerry Brown — that also allowed students who identified as transgender to use school bathrooms “consistent with their gender identity.”

That hardly seems like an insurmountable obstacle to justice for females in locker rooms and athletic competition. Has Newsom asked the state legislature to repeal the law, or amend it to provide safety and honest competition for girls and women in California? Has Newsom looked into how much latitude he has to set state policy within that law? Has Newsom done anything about it other than chat about it for his podcast?

Look, we get it. We're podcasters ourselves, and like Newsom, it's our primary job. We talk about it because people want to put an end to the absurdity of allowing males to take competitive opportunities away from females when males already have plenty of those opportunities. We talk about it so that elected officials will use their authority to do something to restore sanity and put an end to forced unreality such as "transgender" athletes pushing girls and women to the sidelines.

And if California actually had a governor rather than a podcaster-in-chief, perhaps the state would already be on the way to ending that injustice. Alas, all they have is greasy Gavin, trying to grease his way to the middle without lifting a finger to oppose the radical Left.
