Week in Review: SCOTUS' no, Doughty's throw, and White House blow!

Townhall Media

What stories topped your priority lists this week? David Strom fills in for Duane Patterson today, and his top story is the Bolivian marching powder found in the White House. “We’re putting out the Weird Signal for Weird Al,” I declare. “Please, please give us a remake of Clapton’s “Cocaine” for this.” Was it Hunter in the hallway with the (glass) pipe, or Blinken in study with the razor blade? David and I go through a series of court decisions over the last week, especially the explosive injunction and ruling from Judge Terry Doughty that hopefully derails the “Orwellian Ministry of Truth” operating out of the executive branch to censor speech and suppress dissent. We also tackle the importance of the SCOTUS decisions in 303 Creative and SFFA v Harvard, too.

Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.

More highlights from today’s show:

  • “Kayleigh McEnany was saying yesterday that there’s no way that this is Hunter’s cocaine,” I tell David, just from where it was found. “It’s in a cubby hole where people place their cell phones when they’re going into the Situation Room, which, really, man,” I add, “that’s a real confidence builder in the government.”
  • As if that weren’t bad enough, David adds, “Well, Jeffrey Tucker of the Brownstone Institute said something on Twitter which really hit home. And that is,” David continues, “if you think that Hunter Biden’s the only person in Washington DC or the White House is doing cocaine, I got something for you to smoke.”
  • “Now, I don’t think it’s Joe Biden,” I quip, “because frankly, I think cocaine might improve Joe Biden’s public performance.”
  • The importance of Judge Terry Doughty’s rulings on the censorship regime goes well beyond its enforcement potential, I argue. “Just the fact that that that Doughty allowed discovery has produced a overwhelming tide of evidence that the government has been engaged in gross violations of the 1st Amendment, censoring people, suppressing viewpoints,” I say.  “Whether or not the injunction is entirely enforceable or not, that reality is un-erasable and we’re not even to trial yet.”
  • David chooses 303 Creative as the most impactful court decision this week. “The thing that is absolutely fascinating to me, although by now it’s not surprising,” he says, “is how universally the mainstream media and the intelligentsia of the elite are hostile to both of these cases. “And it has to do with the fact,” he continues, “that they firmly believe that you should be compelled to believe and say certain things, and prevented from believing and saying other things.”
