Bragg-adocio, backfires, and bracketology: Off the Beaten Path!

This morning was my first after my vacation, and I muffed it but good while introducing my pal Larry O’Connor! Fortunately, Larry had my back on the topics du jour, especially on March Madness. Before that, though, we talked about the rumor of Trump’s indictment and Ron DeSantis’ expert response. However, Larry proves his political and strategic genius in proposing what DeSantis could do next!

Welcome back to our new VIP video series “Off the Beaten Path,” featuring my friend Larry O’Connor! The Townhall columnist and Salem News Channel host starts off our week by discussing stories and ideas that may fly under our radar, in culture, politics, sports, and more. Plus, Larry previews tonight’s SNC show!

DeSantis missed a golden opportunity, Larry argues, and it has nothing to do with the Trump World complaints that followed. “He should have sent the Florida State troopers down to Mar Lago and made a perimeter around the property and said, you will not extradite this man,” Larry proposed. “‘You just stay here within the state lines, and we won’t let you go to New York’,” Larry imagines DeSantis could tell Trump. “They’re not gonna arrest you. Meantime, I’m heading to New Hampshire now.”

“I have this image of Ron DeSantis as Gandalf right now,” I reply. “You shall not pass!

The key in the coming campaign, Larry argued more seriously, is not to get caught in the trap of continually reacting to Trump. That’s what made DeSantis’ response today smart, Larry said. We also debate the case Alvin Bragg seems ready to make in an indictment (weak or worse, we conclude), and why precedents set with Hillary Clinton and John Edwards matter. We also talk a little about March Madness, and promise to return next week to the topic of Anthony Fauci’s new career as a door-to-door salesman.

Be sure to join the conversation in the comments!
