Go figure. Even Hillary Clinton’s donors are starting to notice that she’s “lacking a certain personal touch,” as well as a certain measure of gratitude for their efforts to put her back in the White House. If she wants to keep getting their cash, the donors want more contact with someone who’s personal touch has never been in question:

Democratic fundraisers are urging Hillary Clinton to make Bill Clinton a bigger part of her presidential campaign, particularly when it comes to fundraising.

The donors, who have contributed some of the biggest checks to President Obama and the Democratic Party, are disappointed by the lack of face time, overall communication and gratitude from Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail.

“Fundraising is not a natural strong suit for Hillary,” one top Democratic fundraiser bluntly said. …

“She doesn’t come across as naturally comfortable in these settings,” the donor said. “Bill Clinton is the complete opposite. The more social an environment, the more at ease he feels.”

Well, sure … but that’s not been a pure positive for Bill Clinton in his career, either.

This presents a bit of a problem, however, since Bill Clinton isn’t running for President, and wouldn’t be eligible even if he wanted. The 15-year effort for the Clinton Restoration has been to frame Hillary as Her Own Woman, separate from her husband, as a means to counter the attack that she’s essentially riding on Bill’s coattails. A truly feminist choice would be a woman who achieved her status on her own, the criticism goes, and not one who rose to her position because of sympathy over her husband’s philandering in the Oval Office, which is why so much effort went into finding her an easy Senate seat before her first run at the presidency. Putting Bill front and center for the campaign steps all over that message.

The main problem, though, is Hillary. She comes across as grating, entitled, and self-absorbed, hence the months-long litany of her explanation of using a secret e-mail server as a “more convenient” arrangement. More convenient than complying with the law and protecting national-security secrets? The more people see of Hillary Clinton, the less they like her, an observation backed up by hard polling data over almost a quarter-century.

Here are a couple of questions for Hillary donors who want more gratitude and charm for their money. Why not switch to Joe Biden? And if she’s coming across this poorly to those who are sticking cash in her pockets, do you wonder how she’s coming across to everyone else?
