So it’s not just Chuck Schumer who’s a New York City warmonger for daring to question the Most Peaceful Peace Deal Ever That Doesn’t Require Actual Peace. That’ll be bad news to the “aggressive progressives” at Democrats.com:

The efforts by Democrats.com partner CREDO Action to pressure Schumer into recanting his opposition resulted in 160,000 signatures on an on-line petition as of yesterday:
“There’s no excuse for any Democrat to oppose the deal — least of all Senator Schumer, who is in line to take over leadership of the Senate Democrats once Senator Harry Reid retires.
“Chuck Schumer was wrong on Iraq when he voted for war and he is wrong on Iran,” the petition continues. “Schumer’s decision to join Republicans in attempting to sabotage the Iran nuclear deal once again shows that he is unfit to lead Senate Democrats.
“Tell Sen. Chuck Schumer: Don’t lead Senate Democrats to war with Iran,” it adds.
Schumer doesn’t appear to be budging, and neither are New Yorkers, according to a new Quinnipiac poll. The deal gets approval from only slightly more than a third of responders, while opposition scores seven points higher in the deepest-blue city in a deep-blue state. No demographic has a majority favoring the deal in the Big Apple — not even among Democrats:
New York City voters oppose 43 – 36 percent the proposed nuclear agreement with Iran, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.
Jewish voters oppose the proposed pact 53 – 33 percent, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds. Opposition is 70 – 15 percent among Republican voters and 51 – 32 percent among independent voters, while Democrats support the pact 43 – 33 percent. …
Voters are divided on whether the deal would make the world safer or not as 40 percent say safer and 42 percent say less safe. Jewish voters say 51 – 37 percent the pact would make the world less safe.
The only majority on this latter question that favors Obama’s position comes from Manhattan, where 51% of respondents say the deal will make the world safer. New York City independents oppose the deal by a majority, 32/51, and nearly the same ratio believes that it will make the world less safe, 34/48. It’s a measure of how little strength independents have in NYC that these numbers are well off from the overall 36/43 and 40/42 in the general sample taken. However, even Democrats in NYC show very little evidence of enthusiasm for this deal, and a third believe it to be a bad idea.
The “aggressive progressives” want to paint any opposition to the Iran deal as a vote for war and death. That’s the same nonsense coming from the White House, along with other even less savory arguments about divided loyalties. It’s telling that even in one of the most friendly cities for “aggressive progressives,” that argument isn’t selling even among the party of “aggressive progressives.” It’s not enough to derail the deal on its own — Kirsten Gillibrand is ignoring the polling trend to support it, for instance — but it should serve as a wake-up call that the smear campaign isn’t gaining any traction.
