The pro-life organization Live Action has launched a new website platform for its continuing investigation and exposure of the nation’s largest abortion-mill chain, and issued a new report on its abuses. Planned Parenthood Exposed will soon feature videos from ongoing undercover probes, but starts off today with an introductory look at the effort:
“Now that you know,” the video asks, “what will you do?” The site also has a Spring 2014 analysis of its current and past investigations into Planned Parenthood, including heartbreaking stories like this:
In 2002, a 39-year-old man impregnated his 13-year-old stepdaughter. He took her to a Planned Parenthood facility in Santa Clara, California for a pregnancy test that summer, and again in December for an abortion. Planned Parenthood referred the girl to San Francisco University hospital, where her 22-week baby was killed.
After the abortion, the sexual abuse continued until the following summer, when the girl’s mother discovered the medical records from the abortion. Only then was the stepfather arrested.
Presented with two opportunities to intervene, Planned Parenthood asked no questions regarding
the suspicious circumstances and returned this young girl to her abuser.
The report also attacks PP’s “deceptive and manipulative counseling”:
Our investigators received an overwhelming breadth of medical misinformation from the Planned Parenthood facilities we audited in 2009. Even the most basic fetal development information was distorted in the Planned Parenthood counseling room – for example, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the Planned Parenthood nurse told our investigators that “heartbeat is when the fetus is active in the uterus – can survive – which is about 17 or 18 weeks.” In truth, the human fetus’s heart begins to beat by four weeks (8). Meanwhile, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, our investigators were told that a child in the womb at six to eight weeks’ gestation has “no legs, no arms, no head, no brain, no heart.” Tis could not be farther from the truth (9).
Coincidentally, Michael Brendan Dougherty writes at The Week about the same lack of scientific accuracy from the pro-abortion movement as a whole, in answer to critics who charged Marco Rubio with getting the science of conception wrong:
Is the beginning of a human life something we can know? Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) claimed recently that human life begins at conception, and that this is a scientific fact. There are two stock responses to such a statement, both obscurantist. The first is the tack Philip Bump took in trying to create a gotcha blog post about Rubio’s statement. Bump promised to boldly look into the science of human life’s origins, and boldly came back saying that there isn’t any. After querying a medical definition of pregnancy and sending it to Rubio’s office for comment, Bump threw up his hands and retreated from the science altogether …
The science is pretty straightforward about when a human life begins. You can watch visualizations of it on YouTube. After the fusion of sperm and egg, the resulting zygote has a unique human DNA from which we can deduce the identity of its biological parents. It begins the process of cell division, and it has a metabolic action that will not end until it dies, whether that is in a few days because it never implants on the uterine wall, or years later in a gruesome fishing accident, or a century later in a hospital room filled with beloved grandchildren.
In the case of identical twins, the zygote divides and two separate metabolic processes begin using the same genetic code. This is an observed phenomena. Hand-waving about whether we categorize viruses as “life,” for example, doesn’t obtrude on these facts, since human zygotes cannot develop into viruses or non-human forms of life. Biology doesn’t really give us options for when an individual life begins, at least none that we could deny without also denying our ability to know whether any individual members of a species “really exist.”
Truth in this case is the most potent weapon. Keep your eyes on the new Planned Parenthood Exposed site for upcoming exposés about the leading providers of abortion — and the half-billion dollars they get from American taxpayers each year.
