Video: Gosnell Movie pushes to the very end for broad donor base

Last Friday, the filmmakers behind the crowdfunding effort for a television movie about serial killer Kermit Gosnell hit their remarkable goal of $2.1 million, the largest project on IndieGoGo in terms of donors and donations. That means Gosnell Movie has a green light to start pre-production, but the crowdfunding effort isn’t over yet, either. The trio of filmmakers want as much funding as they can raise before going into the next phase of the project, and even more, want the highest number of donors they can get too — even if each of them only kicks in a dollar.

Starting at noon today and again at 8 pm ET, Gosnell Movie will conduct two Twitter campaigns to drive up donorship in the final hours before the project deadline of midnight PST:

This last day is very important for the success of the Gosnell Movie. We want to have an army of supporters so that Hollywood and the media can no longer say there is no demand, no audience for a movie about Kermit Gosnell.

If you haven’t contributed please consider doing it now atwww.GosnellMovie.com

If you have given already, we’d love you to get your friends and family to join this historic project, and we only want $1 from them. We currently have nearly 25,000 contributors but we NEED to grow this number. Please encourage your family and friends to give just $1 and add their name – their vote to the growing army of people who are demanding that the censorship stops now.

And we also need you one more time. We’ll be hosting a tweetfest on Twitter on Monday, twice: at 12-2pm EST and again at 8-9pm EST and we’d love you to be there for us. Our goal for this tweetfest is to get to 30,000 contributors before the campaign ends. We’ll be tweeting with the hashtag #GosnellMovie, we want to get it trending!

You’ll be also hearing Ann and Phelim on the radio, they’ll be on The Hugh Hewitt Show, The Dennis Prager Show and on CBS Philly.

Lets make this one last big effort and push to finish strong! We’ll see you on Twitter and at the finish line.

To mark the final day, Ann McIlhenny has given us an exclusive first look at her final reading from the Gosnell grand jury report. The grand jury demanded accountability from the public sector that tolerated the charnel house, if not actively encouraged it:

Paul Bedard interviewed Phelim McAleer about the successful funding of the project:

McAleer had told Secrets that the Kickstarter censorship was just the latest effort by Hollywood and the media to quiet the story about the late-term abortionist. It wasn’t until after enormous public pressure that the TV networks began covering Gosnell’s trial in May 2013.

“Hollywood and the mainstream media have been very reluctant to cover this serial killer but we think it’s time Gosnell’s story was told,” said Ann McElhinney, McAleer’s wife and co-filmmaker, when their campaign started. Their company Hat Tip Films is making the drama based on the courtroom story.

On Saturday, McAleer added, “The media and Hollywood normally love serial killers. There are movies and whole TV series devoted to the genre but for some reason there were no plans to tell the truth about Kermit Gosnell and his crimes. We were determined to change that and to show that their was a public appetite for this truth to be told and that’s why we decided to crowdfund the project.”

Let’s fulfill the charge for accountability by making sure that everyone hears the Gosnell story. If you have already donated, tell your friends about it. If you haven’t, now’s the time to join the effort, and every little bit and individual donor counts today. Make it happen, and join us at the finish line tonight.
