A frantic search is underway for more survivors after a building collapsed in Center City Philadelphia.
At least a dozen people have been rescued already, according to eyewitnesses.
The collapse may have been caused by a demolition project adjacent to the building, reports Yahoo’s Les Carpenter (via Twitchy ):

We’ll update as developments dictate, but this is a very unusual story. Offhand, I can’t recall the last significant urban structure collapse, other than the Minneapolis bridge collapse in 2007 which was obviously a much different story.
Update : BuzzFeed has some before-and-after pictures that show the dramatic nature of the collapse.
Update : So far, eleven people are known to be injured, but more may still be trapped :
It is believed at least two people remain trapped under the rubble. 11 people have been taken to area hospitals so far.
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital says they are treating five victims. Two injured were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and four others were transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. All of the victims are said to be adults. There is no word at this time on the severity of their injuries.
Emergency crews are on the scene continuing to work feverishly to find survivors.
So far, no reports of deaths. Let’s hope and pray it stays that way.
