Obamateurism of the Day

Three days ago, Barack Obama used a colorful metaphor to use in his efforts to blame Republicans for three years of economic malaise.  Speaking at a campaign event in Baltimore, Obama told the crowd that it was like getting stiffed on a check at a restaurant:

It’s like somebody goes to a restaurant, orders a big steak dinner, martini all that stuff, and then just as you’re sitting down — they leave — (laughter) — and accuse you of running up the tab.

You mean … kind of like what Obama did yesterday?

Celebrating Father’s Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.

As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.

The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.

Sounds like the way Obama approaches budgeting and spending.  He buys everyone what they want, and leaves the bill for someone else.  The difference between the two metaphors is that one is now literally true. (via Ben Howe at RedState)

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at [email protected] with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
