We put a hurting on Tom Petty’s “Free Falling” two weeks ago, which I posted later that week, changing it to “Fleebagging.”  Last week, we destroyed Wings’ “Band on the Run” so thoroughly with our “Dems on the Run” cover that my video edit program went on strike before it would repurpose the clip from the NARN stream.  But this week, we have the real deal in terms of a song spoof of the runaway Democrats from Wisconsin — and this time, we made the wise choice of not performing it live.  Set to Warren Zevon’s “Lawyers, Guns, and Money,” the Northern Alliance presents “Lawyers, Cheese, and Bratwurst” from yesterday’s NARN show:

Mitch Berg wrote the lyrics and did all of the instrumentals himself (he’s a talented musician), and sang most of the lyrics.  Our engineer Tommy Huynh threw in a line and mixed it up to the station’s sound board, while I sang the second verse.  All in all, it’s certainly the best single yet from Mitch Berg and the Heartburners, the official NARN house band, but that’s not exactly saying much.  Since the runaway Dems returned to Madison yesterday, pop music is now safe from our tender mercies … at least for a while.
