Ramirez: Ditches and cliffs

Last week, Barack Obama said he wouldn’t give Republicans the “keys to the car” after driving it into a ditch.  Obama said this while complaining that Republicans were “staying on the sidelines,” but Michael Ramirez instead focuses on the car analogy.  The two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist shows what happened when Obama and his administration decided to take a sharp left turn instead of following  a clearly-marked path to economic growth:

Maybe Ramirez should have titled this “Unexpectedly!”  Instead of learning from the last twenty-five years of American economic expansion and lowering taxes and debt, Obama has taken the US sharply to the left — with the expected results.

Ramirez has a terrific collection of his works: Everyone Has the Right to My Opinion, which covers the entire breadth of Ramirez’ career, and it gives a fascinating look at political history.  Read my review here, and watch my interviews with Ramirez here and here.  And don’t forget to check out the entire Investors.com site, which has now incorporated all of the former IBD Editorials, while individual investors still exist.
