Video: Obama won't call for Kwame Kilpatrick's resignation

I’m not sure which is more compelling in this news clip — the political tension between Barack Obama’s national and Michigan operations over what to do with Kwame Kilpatrick, or Jennifer Granholm’s resigned hypocrisy over tying a presidential candidate to their political allies.  Hey, Governor, maybe you should read the news from time to time and learn more about the McSame Project at Team Obama:

Allahpundit noted that the Tennessee GOP already started linking Obama to Kilpatrick, with the predictably hysterical reaction.

Normally, presidential candidates don’t need to weigh in on every municipal scandal in the nation. However, Obama did go out of his way to talk about what a “great job” Kilpatrick was doing in Detroit — at least until he got tossed in the klink. Twice. The clip here of Obama embracing Kilpatrick looks very similar to one Obama uses in his campaign commercials of John McCain embracing George Bush, and, well, turnabout is fair play.

I doubt this will hurt Obama, though, and for two reasons. One, most people in America have no idea who Kilpatrick is and what he’s done to find himself in jail. Two, Obama will almost certainly reverse himself and toss Kilpatrick under the bus. If he can do it to Jeremiah Wright, anyone can fit underneath the wheels.
