Look, we all know that Francesca Hong is nuttier than a fruitcake that is filled with nausea-inducing berries, but as she enters the home stretch before the August 11th primary, not to mention the soon-to-be-kicked-off general election, you would think she would want to consolidate the vote in her own party and start making herself look acceptable to Independent voters.
Nope, she intends to finish strong, if by strong you mean leaning into everything the most radical voters in the state love about her and emphasizing everything that scares the bejeezus out of the sane people in that state, which happened to vote for Trump less than two years ago.

Just to remind you (as if you could have forgotten), Hasan Piker describes the 40 million+ deaths under Mao as no big deal, and likes to scream about the blood of capitalists running in the streets. He is quite literally a communist revolutionary (and millionaire who claims to be working class), who calls for revolution.

Ilhan "God Damn America!" Omar likes to say that America is one of the worst countries in the world and declares that her heart is in Somalia, and she doesn't exactly appeal to your average Independent voter either.
And Hong brings them in to excite the crowd.

Now, as you know, I often complain that Democrats say one thing to the voters and do quite another when they get into power—think Abigail Spanberger—I at least understand why they do that. It's not easy to get elected when one campaigns to let rapists and pedos roam the streets of your state.
But at least Spanberger understands the game of politics, being a CIA Democrat and ally of the Organized Crime Democrats. Hong, I expect, will be pure political poison as soon as the general election approaches.

Her appearance with Piker and Omar will galvanize the establishment to double down on trying to get David Crowley across the finish line, somehow. Which may mean that they try some desperate last-minute oppo research drop.

Not that it will matter. Most people assume that Hong will easily win the nomination, and at least partly because her most avid voters are themselves America-hating communists who believe in the BLM/Antifa/DSA agenda.

It's interesting to see how the political insiders in the Democratic Party have completely lost control over the nominating process, and how (rightly) freaked out about it they are. As the Graham Platner experience showed, even the very popular Governor of Maine was completely helpless to dent Platner's rise in the party despite all the obvious flaws as a candidate he had.

It's hardly surprising to see DSA candidates doing well in deep Blue districts in deep Blue states, but it should be shocking that Abdul El Sayed and Francesca Hong seem invulnerable in swing states like Michigan and Wisconsin. No DSA candidate can be expected to do well statewide in any but the most liberal states, but here they are becoming statewide candidates in swing states.

This says little about where the electorate as a whole is, but quite a bit about where the Democratic Party is right now.
It is helpless, rudderless, panicked, and broke. The people who control the party right now believe that Hasan Piker and Ilhan Omar are voices of reason, and the money people behind them are radical billionaires who can propel them to the top.

Communists will rip the Democrats apart!
Reliable Democrats who have led or stood by the Party for their entire lives are throwing their hands up in despair, as well they should. It's difficult to see how any of the most radical candidates can win in November with so many of their party members dumping all over them, and even a few members of Pravda willing to ask tough questions of them.

Mamdani could win in New York because he is an extraordinary political talent, whatever you think of his politics. He's bursting with charisma, handsome, and a fluid speaker who is incredibly savvy with social media.
Hong, not so much.
Hong's best days in the polls should be in August and September, when she looks competitive. But she will look competitive because she is still a "generic Democrat" in the eyes of most voters who aren't paying attention yet.

That won't last, and Hong doesn't grasp that campaigning as a radical may get you Democratic primary voters, but won't bring in the center to center-right.
Of course, everything could get scrambled if the economy collapses, but barring that or a massive invasion of Iran, Hong should be toast.
