Remember how Jimmy Kimmel and MSNBC tried to convince everyone that Charlie Kirk was shot by a conservative?
The story looked very bad for them, so they decided to craft a different narrative that better fit their worldview.
Remember when some Islamists tried to firebomb some protesters in front of Mamdani’s house and the press described it as an attempted attack on Mamdani?
— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) April 27, 2026
This is that, but even dumber. The press were not the targets. https://t.co/ZCs4BsbYsF
Well, the Democrats are at it again, despite the fact that we have an actual written manifesto that tells you exactly why Allen wanted to kill the president.
I'm not saying it was STAGED...
— Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) April 27, 2026
YOU'RE saying it was staged!
You have DOUBTS? Just because Trump has lied to you every day about every thing for a decade? Just because his people are filth?
Shame, cynic!

It's the other half of the "confuse the narrative" strategy, in which one group out there insists that the assassination attempts on Trump have all been staged, and the other insists that it was actually a disgruntled conservative who took the shot.

The point is to blunt the impact of this gut punch to their overall narrative that it is the right that is dangerous.
🚨 FULL MANIFESTO: Trump White House Correspondents' Dinner Shooter Cole Allen details his motives and targets:
— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) April 26, 2026
"Hello everybody!
So I may have given a lot of people a surprise today. Let me start off by apologizing to everyone whose trust I abused.
I apologize to my parents…
There's a manifesto out there that details why he tried to kill the president, and it echoes every single Democratic Party talking point that you can imagine. It reads like a BlueSky account because the guy spent his time on BlueSky reading and interacting with big accounts that spread anti-Trump hoaxes.
Yet the official line from the prestige media is that we may never know the motive, as The New York Times published yesterday. Barack Obama endorsed that line of attack as well.
🚨Obama claims “we don’t know the motive” behind the WHCD shooter — despite the manifesto explicitly naming Trump and his officials as targets.
— Don Keith (@RealDonKeith) April 27, 2026
Mehek Cooke calls it exactly what it is: Obama lying for political cover.
Democrats know their nonstop violent rhetoric is producing… pic.twitter.com/OqJ8e9C0eI
President Obama cautioned that we really do not know the motives of Cole Allen. https://t.co/gWx13Fjiwm Sure, he called Trump the "anti-Christ" and said he wanted to attack the Administration. However, he might have been a disgruntled hotel guest or someone vehemently against…
— Jonathan Turley (@JonathanTurley) April 27, 2026
Then there are the new story rewrites. Ken Klippenstein, for instance, is going with the claim that the man who went to No Kings rallies, donated to Kamala Harris, was a member of a radical left-wing group, and lived on BlueSky was actually a disgruntled Christian who thought Trump was a blasphemer.
To figure out why Cole Allen did what he did, I obtained a copy of his resume and talked to his former friends. The portrait that emerges is unlike what the White House is saying:https://t.co/UisQVHYnKh
— Ken Klippenstein (@kenklippenstein) April 26, 2026
Dude, we have the manifesto. You don't need his resume. He told you why he did it.
Only, it doesn't matter to the people this is aimed at. They need an alternate explanation that fits their priors, and anything will do. It has to be just plausible enough.
And, on top of all this, are the myriad left-wingers lamenting that, once again, Trump escaped the Grim Reaper.
Here's another compilation of unhinged leftists having mental breakdowns after another left-wing assassin FAILED to m*rder President Trump.
— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) April 27, 2026
We have to share a country with these violence-loving lunatics. pic.twitter.com/FKWsZpxsg3
Democrats are insisting that they have done nothing to encourage any of this, despite 10 years of calling Trump a Nazi, creating a Gestapo, insisting he is a rapist and pedophile, and calling for "Maximum War" against Trump just last week.
Bash: You and many Democrats have used some heated rhetoric against the president. Do you think twice about that when something like this happens?
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 26, 2026
Raskin: What rhetoric? pic.twitter.com/SfkoXw1wj3
Last year, POLITICO published a piece on the mood of Congressional Democrats, who keep being told by their constituents that there needs to be "blood in the streets."

It isn't a secret that Democrats are itching for blood. Rioting is their love language, and the Code Pink protesters outside the White House Correspondents' Dinner were waving signs calling for Trump's death.
Meanwhile outside WHCD, the dude on the right hit me with his sign pic.twitter.com/AsolMcEPEk
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) April 26, 2026
They are only saying bluntly what the cognoscenti say a bit more slyly. "Trump is an existential threat," creating a Gestapo, a war criminal, or any of a number of truly intolerable things.
TIM WALZ: "No one has ever been more dangerous to this country than Donald Trump, and he is a fascist to his core."
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) April 26, 2026
Your disgusting rhetoric is inciting these violent attacks on President Trump and his administration. pic.twitter.com/qSG3DI02vK https://t.co/kIJbFDZraV
Cole Allen gives you a nice, convenient list of the accusations, all repeats of what Democrats and Pravda say every day.
In his fake White House correspondents speech @JimmyKimmelLive actually joked about Trump’s assassination — just before a real assassin showed up at the real dinner.

Hey @DisneyABCTV when the hell are you finally going to pull this vile person from the airwaves? pic.twitter.com/PG3iptGnZX
Violent fantasies about killing Trump are now standard fare, mostly from the midwits. Most of the videos of people expressing disappointment that Trump escaped over the past couple of days have come from teachers and nurses, along with a few mid-level political activists.
Here is video of Piker saying “someone has to do it” and making a finger gun with his hand… pic.twitter.com/6sbg6zbl6U

Democrats have rallied around Hasan Piker, who has a habit of explaining why political murder is A-OK in his book. They show up on his podcast; he is now a regular on the Opinion Page of The New York Times, where he recently explained why Luigi Mangione was justified in murdering Brian Thompson.
This "journalist" was at WHCD tonight

"Do it" refers to kiIIing Trump pic.twitter.com/TAW6LtOwzc
Now that Trump has survived yet another attempt on his life, the Democrats are doing their best to rewrite history. Jamie Raskin can't imagine what Democrats have ever said that might incite people. In fact, he has no problem at all with Trump, just his policies!

Something really has to be done here. https://t.co/B8Eiqmu1Kp
Of course, the "Trump is an existential threat" and "fascist pedophile" rhetoric will start up yet again in a day or two. After Butler, the Democrats doubled down on the extreme rhetoric, and they will do so again.
