Canadian Liberals Might Be Even Funnier Than American Ones

If you think the Labour Party in Canada is a bit crazy, you should see the absolute loons in the New Democratic Party, which is the third-largest party in Canada.

The NDP, which got pretty much wiped out in the last general election, took a big lesson from the drubbing.

Become the faculty of a gender studies department at an Ivy League school.

The NDP just held its leadership conference, in which they chose a white Zohran Mamdani to lead their party. It was a total clown show, all the way from their chair, a gender nonbinary thing with the charisma of a robot to the arcane speaking rules based  on intersectionality, designed to ensure that genderqueer and minority speakers would get preference over white males, or as the Chair said, "dudes."

Having been to more than my share of political conventions, I can say with great authority that they tend to be filled with cranks and crazies, no matter the party. The people who attend are a mix of political insiders and people whose entire identities are wrapped up in one or two issues, or who think that life itself should be run by Robert's Rules of Order.

But still, I have never seen anything like this outside of academia.

Still, national conventions tend to be very different because they are generally stage-managed to present the party in the best possible light. You want the clips and soundbites to appeal to ordinary people, and ideally, there should be a clear takeaway message.

Well, the NDP certainly presented a clear message: Canada should be run like a humanities department in an elite university, complete with DEI statements, preferences based on intersectional ranking, a massive expansion of government along the lines of the DSA-aligned candidates in the United States, and an embrace of radical Islamists.

Canada, as Columbia University.

I have only seen the highlights, but that's the point: the highlights are what anybody evaluating the party will see. No ordinary Canadian will sit through discussions of parliamentary procedures. They want the BLUF: bottom line up front.

And the bottom line is that the World Economic Forum is way too conservative for their taste

Canada's left-leaning New Democratic Party (NDP) has chosen former journalist and activist Avi Lewis as their new leader, after suffering major losses in the last federal election.

Lewis received 56% of the vote in a first ballot victory, defeating member of parliament Heather McPherson and three other candidates.

He ran on a platform to revive the struggling party, prioritising worker rights in the age of artificial intelligence, ending new oil and gas pipelines and projects, and exploring state-owned, non-profit grocery stores.

Once the main opposition party in 2011, the NDP now holds only six seats in Canada's House of Commons.

Like the Democrats here in the United States, the NDP has decided that their electoral failures are due to not being radical and crazy enough. They are doubling down on the culture war, climate hysteria, and the embrace of Islamists.

And, of course, Trump Derangement Syndrome. Trump was one of the main antagonists for the party as they met. It seems to be the great unifying principle of the left these days. The NDP is even arguing that Mark Carney, Canada's liberal Prime Minister, is a Trump clone.

Is it any wonder that there is a secession movement in Canada? Who wants to be associated with these loons?

Editor's note: If we thought our job in pushing back against the Academia/media/Democrat censorship complex was over with the election, think again. This is going to be a long fight.
