Could Dogs Become a Wedge Issue? UPDATE: AOC Weighs In

I wrote this morning about the emerging issue of Muslims calling for dog bans, either altogether or through geographic limitations on where dogs can be owned as pets or walked.

The controversy was sparked by one of Zohran Mamdani's biggest fans, and a leader of the pro-Hamas demonstrations in New York, calling for dog ownership to be banned now that Islam is on the rise in New York City.

For those of you who are unaware, dogs are considered haram, or "unclean," and many Muslims shun dogs and find them disgusting.

I'm not going to go through all the evidence that Muslims really are pushing for a ban on dogs, because I already did so earlier today. Instead, I am going to focus on the emerging politics of dogs, dog bans, Islam, and a bizarre Democrat/Republican split on the issue.

Warning—NSFW:

It's not that Democrats are calling for restrictions on dogs yet, but already, there are Labour Party members who are going that direction in order to accommodate Muslim sensibilities. How long until the same demands are accommodated in Blue areas and in parks, if the Democrats get into power again?

Instead, what Democrats are doing is attacking Republicans for noticing the movement to ban dogs, and for saying "No."

Randy Fine tweeted out the obvious, which I suspect is a sentiment that 90% of Americans would heartily agree with. Democrats immediately jumped on him, calling him a racist for preferring to keep dogs around rather than acceding to Muslim demands. Two Democratic presidential candidates (unannounced, but obviously so), Gavin Newsom and Ro Khanna, denounced Fine immediately.

It's funny in a way, of course, because Islam is not a race, but a religion shared by people around the world. In fact, the country with the largest population of Muslims is Indonesia. As I keep insisting, not all Muslims are barbarians.

Democrats simply cannot help themselves, now insisting that if they have to choose between our beloved dogs and the sensibilities of Muslims, they would choose the latter.

Perhaps if we were talking about a philosophical conundrum in which we would have to choose between killing a human being and a dog, you could understand the choice. Although, come to think about it, I know people who would sacrifice somebody of any race whom they did not know to save their own dog, so maybe not.

But we are talking about giving up our beloved pets for people who immigrated here of their own free will. They chose to come to a dog culture, and are now demanding that we give in to their demands.

Screw that. If we have to choose between barbarians and our dogs, the choice is easy.

Unsurprisingly, we are seeing evidence that Republicans are going to lean into this issue, since Democrats have opened the door so wide that even Republicans can see the political gold within.

It's an issue that strikes home, pre-rationally, in just the way the murder of P'nut did towards the end of the presidential campaign. Killing cute squirrels or taking away people's pets is a good way to inflame the passions. Democrats, who see victims behind every tree as long as they are not white or transgender, are perfectly fine with their preferred kinds of cruelty. Leftists will cry uncontrollably and riot to defend child sex predators and the ghouls who mutilate children, but couldn't care less about the feelings of ordinary people.

I’m bringing this video back out from the archives that I recorded last year in Barcelona about dogs eventually being banned from public spaces.

This was August 2025 and people mocked me as overreacting. Now we have Moslem activists trying to actively ban dogs from public spaces in London and New York City.

And now @RepFine is getting attacked for saying he chooses the dogs over the Moslems.

I choose the dogs over the Moslems too. At least you can effectively train a dog. And you can legally neuter dogs too.

You would think that, of all things, dogs would not become a wedge issue dividing Democrats and Republicans, or at least the politicians of the two parties, if for no other reason than siding with the dog haters is obviously politically fatal.

An alleged comment?   IT WAS IN WRITING, POSTED TO X, AND SEEN MILLIONS OF TIMES BEFORE I RESPONDED.

Perhaps you should have read it before you started spouting off like an idiot.

As for quoting the Torah, you're forgiven as it is not your faith, but in that same chapter -- Genesis -- G-d also created dogs.   They are man's best friend for a reason.

You've successfully put yourself on the 10 side of a 90-10 issue.  Congrats.  I'll debate this one all day.

But in this bizarre world of intersectional politics, where Democrats have loudly sided with the people who want to groom kids into becoming sexless freaks, mutilated beyond healing, it is a real possibility.

UPDATE: AOC, fresh from her masterful performance impressing the transnational elite in Munich, has now weighed in.

This is genuinely one of the most disgusting statements I have ever seen issued by an American official.

It should not stop shocking us that the Republican Party openly embraces this. Fine should be censured & stripped of committees. To ignore this is to accept and normalize it.

Editor's note: If we thought our job in pushing back against the Academia/media/Democrat censorship complex was over with the election, think again. This is going to be a long fight.
