WTH, ABC News?

There are many reasons why we continue to write about The View, despite it being a clown show. It's not just for clicks, although the clicks are good at times, but also because it's the top-rated daytime talk show and, believe it or not, it's produced by ABC News.

Let that sink in. The View is, according to ABC, a news show

So when discussions like this get aired as if they are serious, it is a serious problem.

Sunny Hostin decries Israel's preemptive strike on Iran, suggesting it happened for no reason, fears for the life of Ayatollah Khamenei, and claims a country has no right to bomb a country threatening to nuke them.

She claims Israel's strikes were "illegal," but doesn't stays silent when confronted about Iran funding terrorism and launching their own strikes on Israel previously:

HOSTIN: What people aren't talking about is that Israel pre-emptively struck Iran. I think the conversation would be different if another country pre-emptively sent missiles to this country, right?

(...)

BEHAR: Iran is an actual existential threat to Israel. So, they're saying, if you're trying to kill us, we don't want you to have a nuke.

HOSTIN: That is fine, but you have to do that legally. Under international criminal law, you're not supposed to do this.

BEHAR: I'm not sure Iran does things legally.

HOSTIN: But under international law Israel should not be pre-emptively striking another country.

(...

HOSTIN: If that's okay for us to do [threaten to kill ayatollah], is it okay for another country to do to us?

BEHAR: What if Canada was saying they were going to build a nuclear bomb and they threatened to kill us all. What would we do?

HOSTIN: They have to do it diplomatically, Joy!

BEHAR: Really? What's diplomatic of having a nuclear bomb and threatening another country?

Sunny Hostin, it turns out, was an Assistant United States Attorney, among the most powerful positions in the country. She was a federal prosecutor, which is about as dispiriting a thing to think about as you can get. Hostin is quite wrong about the legality of Iran's preemptive attack on Israel, but even so that is beside the point. When even Joy Behar can outthink you it is time to give up.

Whoopi joins Hostin defending Iran. She says Israel should be engaging with Iran diplomatically because "the reason there is diplomacy is so people aren't bombing each other willy nilly."

Whoopi and Hostin write off Iran's attacks on U.S. military bases in the region and their proxies attacking Israel.

Hostin claims she's not antisemitic despite constantly denouncing the Jewish state: "I want to say this so I don't get a bunch of hate mail! Criticism of the Israeli government is not antisemitic! I'm criticizing Benjamin Netanyahu! I am criticizing Israel! I'm not an antisemite."

As far as I know, no country has the responsibility to be nuked prior to taking action, as Whoopi Goldberg and Hostin seem to mistakenly believe. While I reluctantly agree with Hostin that criticizing Israel is not inherently antisemitic, I doubt that her motives are pure. They are perfectly fine with Iran attacking Israel and American bases, and explicitly side with people who regularly chant "Death to Israel" and "Death to America."

Whoopi and Sunny say it's worse to be black in America today than to live in Iran today. Whoopi shouts down Alyssa Farah Griffin for noting that Iran kills gay people because America is a terrible country. Alyssa stand up to her in a big way:

Alyssa: Let's remember the Iranians literally throw gay people off buildings. They don't adhere to basic human rights.

Whoopi: Let's not do that because if we start with that, we've been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car!

Alyssa: I'm sorry, but were the Iranian regime is today is nothing compared to the United States.

Whoopi: They used to keep hanging black people!

Alyssa: It's not even the same.

Whoopi: That's not what you mean to say! It is the same.

Alyssa: No, it's not. The year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if stepped foot were this outfit in Tehran right now.

[Crosstalk]

Alyssa: I can't have my hair showing, I can't wear a skirt, I can't have my arms out.

(...)

Alyssa: It's very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran.

Whoopi: Not if you're black.

Sunny: Not for everybody.

Whoopi: Not if you're black.

Alyssa: Guys, don't go to Tehran. No one at this table should go to Tehran.

(...)

Alyssa: There are places much darker than this country.

Whoopi: Not everybody feels that way! Not everybody feels that way!

And why wouldn't they feel that way? They despise America and are unafraid to say so, creating a moral equivalency between the US, Israel, and the most abusive countries in the world. Whoopi Goldberg, a woman who has been made very rich by spouting off about how oppressed she is in America, wants us to believe that blacks are as oppressed in our country as gays are in Iran.

It's astonishing that this drivel is produced under the News division of ABC and ultimately is the product of the Walt Disney Company. These media conglomerates are putting their stamp of approval on some of the most hateful propaganda to be aired in America, arguably more offensive than MSNBC.
