Gavin Newsom's First Campaign Move for 2028

Gavin Newsom's project to destroy California is nearing completion, so he is setting his sights on destroying even bigger things: the United States, its economy, and the world.

Never one to be shy about his ambitions, Newsom has been not-so-quietly campaigning for the top job since he was able to talk. And talk. And talk some more. The only thing he does more than talk about himself and his grand plans to make California Venezuela and make America California is combing his admittedly glorious hair.

Damn, I wish I had hair like his. Or at least more hair.

Admittedly, Newsom is good at talking, so starting a podcast is not a bad idea at all. Imagine his likely opponent, Kamala Harris, doing a podcast of her own. She couldn't even survive a few minutes with Call Her Daddy.

Newsom is a perfect example of the best the Democrats have, and I mean that seriously. He looks good, sounds good, has that perfect crease in his pants, and hits all the high notes for the gentry class. He has convinced Californians for nearly 20 years that he has a 10-year plan to end homelessness and that spending over $150 billion to build a train that was to cost $30 billion and that will NEVER EVER EVER get built is a terrific idea. $13 billion has evaporated so far without a single track being laid down, yet he still manages to win elections.

That is perfect Democrat politicking. Smile greasily while picking the taxpayers' pockets, stealing their liberty, and slandering the opposition.

Newsom styles himself as the future of the Democratic Party, and I suspect he just may be exactly that. Nobody is as slick, as slimy, and as able to spread money around to his allies than good ol' Gavin, so I think he has a shot.

Gavin Newsom will soon host his own podcast where the California governor will mix it up with MAGA personalities, open his vast Rolodex for frank conversations with Democrats about how to come back from the wilderness and break news on consequential policy decisions.

The solo venture from a likely presidential aspirant comes as Democrats writ large struggle to keep pace with the onslaught of actions from President Donald Trump and Republicans. Leaders from across the minority party are casting about for a compelling message while trying to break through in an increasingly siloed media environment. The podcast space, with its proliferation of Trump-friendly personalities, has proven especially challenging for Democrats.

The Bill Maher-inspired program, “This is Gavin Newsom,” will be produced by iHeartPodcasts, where Newsom already appears on the sports and culture show “Politickin,’” alongside friends Marshawn Lynch, the former NFL star running back, and the agent Doug Hendrickson. Newsom said his eponymous interview format would allow him to focus far more extensively on politics.

Newsom is a big believer in The Narrative™, and it will be interesting to see whether he has correctly diagnosed the shift in the zeitgeist and will talk right before he tries to govern left. My guess is that he will pull the Jake Tapper, which means completely rewriting history. Having your own podcast rather than appearing on Joe Rogan is a good way to control The Narrative™ because he can avoid tough questions.

Newsom, a student of the right-wing ecosystem who is both fascinated and distressed by its ability to elevate subjects into the mainstream, mentioned his regular appearances on Fox News, Newsmax and other conservative outlets. He debated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in late 2023, moderated by Fox’s Sean Hannity, who remains in regular touch with Newsom. He ran a series of TV ads in red states over the last two years calling attention to their anti-abortion laws.

But his show, premiering in the coming weeks, won’t be confined to crashing the ascendent right-wing.

“At the same time, I want Democrats to come on and sort of challenge where we are on a lot of these issues,” Newsom said. “And so I’m asking the same questions you’re asking of me: Where the hell is the Democratic Party? What are we doing? Who are we? Where are we going? What’s the path back? I’m having the exact same conversations, and I just thought it’d be a hell of a lot more interesting to do it publicly and to do it as honestly as I can.”

Honest and Gavin Newsom. I don't think that word means what he thinks it means.

Before you dismiss this gambit as a tactic unlikely to work, realize that there are a LOT of people who are desperate to keep taking the Blue Pill and live in a comfortable illusion that everything is hunky dory and that our establishment is filled with well-meaning people really trying to help us all out. Republicans are meanies, and good ol' Gavin really does care about the little guy as he sips his wine at his very own Vineyard before going to the French Laundry.

I'm serious. There are millions of people begging to not have to deal with reality because the reality is that our country is controlled by a bunch of degenerates who are pillaging the land.

Who else do the Democrats have? Do you really think that if Newsom is the nominee, the media will showcase California's failures? Not on your life. It will be some version of "Brat Summer."

Remember what the media did with Kamala Harris. They trashed her for 4 years and then did a 180 and called her perfect. They are shameless. Expect exactly that.

Gaslighting. Forever and always. Bet on it.
