Trump's Most Epic Troll Ever

Every Democrat, every Trump opponent, every foreign dignitary- every single visitor to the Oval Office walks by the second-most famous Trump photograph ever: his mugshot.

I've never seen an F-you to everybody who wants to screw with the most powerful man in the world bigger than this.

The message is clear: You cannot defeat me, no matter how hard you try. Throw the power of the state governments against me, I will prevail. Throw the power of the federal government, I will prevail. And, implicitly, send an assassin to take me out, and God will guide the bullet away.

That photograph should make Trump's enemies tremble.

Trump sent that message when he revealed his official portrait, which bore a stunning resemblance to the mugshot, but putting the actual mugshot on the wall is next-level.

Perhaps that is why, as I wrote earlier today, Washington DC has seen a massive spike in the number of people searching for criminal defense attorneys. No other region in the country even comes close, and DC is a small city compared to mighty states like California, Texas, or Florida.

Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said, "If you strike at a king, you must kill him."

Well, a vast number of people who are under the thumb of Donald Trump have taken at least metaphorical shots at him and...they missed. That is always dangerous, but that mugshot is a stark reminder that Trump, unlike Biden, can remember and has the will to strike back.

No doubt the "norms" folks, who cheered on the persecution of Trump and his allies, will be whining that it is unfair that they must worry about legal consequences for their plainly illegal acts.

That mugshot says, "I remember how much you value the rule of law. Get ready to experience what actual criminals experience."

Most of the people quaking right now will not face the justice that they deserve; there is too little time, too few prosecutors, and only so much political capital to spend going after them. All the fraud and lawfare Trump will face and turn back will keep the Justice Department plenty busy.

But some of the worst will hang, again metaphorically. If the FBI could put 5000 agents on January 6th cases, most of them misdemeanors, they certainly can spare a few hundred for public corruption cases that genuinely threatened the Republic.

The mugshot is epic, as is its message: This time Trump is not screwing around.
