At least one of the wildfires currently consuming everything in its path in L.A. County was set by an arsonist, and don't be surprised to find out that arson and/or electrical wires are responsible for all the fires that are out of control.
Politicians are pointing fingers in every direction except themselves, with (of course) global warming being the ultimate cause. If only America became a poor, socialist country with too little and too unreliable energy, we would achieve a utopia.
The reality, though, is simpler: mentally ill homeless people, poor land management, misplaced budget priorities, and insane DEI-obsessed policies made this disaster inevitable.
🚨HOLY SMOKES.

Los Angeles Police have arrested an individual for suspected arson after 800 acres has been burned in the West Hills.
The canyon is now officially a crime scene.
They need to be charged with terrorism and prosecuted to the fullest extent. pic.twitter.com/8YEWH3yrhT
California has been prone to wildfires as long as there has been a California. Los Angeles is in a desert, and the Santa Ana winds can turn a campfire or a lightning strike into a conflagration. Brush accumulates, and if it isn't managed properly, there is no firebreak to prevent the near-unlimited spread of the fire to all surrounding areas.
The Los Angeles Fire Department has confirmed that the Kenneth Fire, which is currently burning in Woodland Hills, is under investigation for potential arson. A suspect has been detained in connection with the incident. Area is being treated as a crime scene.

But preparing for and fighting fires isn't sexy. There are gay men's choirs to fund, DEI trainings to hold, lesbians to hire. and posturing about saving Gaia to do. Cleaning up the streets, dealing with the homeless, water management, and all the nuts and bolts of protecting a region are not sexy.
For people not from LA, we are facing an epidemic of immeasurable proportions of homeless people setting fires daily. It’s happened on my street four times in the past few months.

The police arrest the arsonists, but because of progressive DAs, they are released and reoffend. https://t.co/1vLbg4TfIa
And, of course, you have to consider social justice. There are so many world-historic issues to deal with, and running a city gets in the way of changing the world for the better.
Politicians and media are quick to blame California's wildfires on climate change.

But the main cause is politicians failing to allow effective forest maintenance!
Years ago,I made this video (it was quickly censored by Facebook) with @Shellenberger about it: pic.twitter.com/9lZm4s9cTJ
This is how liberals think. Their aspirations are global, while 99% of the problems that people need to be solved are local. When your house is being burned down, your neighborhood going up in smoke, or somebody is pooping on the sidewalk you don't care about the sexuality of the public servant.
LA Mayor slammed for cutting $17.6 million from the fire department budget while spending money on a TRANS CAFE, Gay Choir and Transgender Heritage Month programs.

But leftists do.
Democrats in Sacramento CUT wildfire prevention by 80% at the same time LA Mayor Karen Bass slashed her fire department budget—even when her own Fire Chief warned those cuts would limit their ability to fight a fire like this. This was summed up, as Beege wrote, by the attitude of the Assistant Fire Chief of Los Angeles when she blithely said that a man needing to be carried out of a burning home by a lesbian firefighter who is too weak was "in the wrong place."
LAFD Assistant Chief Kristine Larson:

It's not their job to actually save lives or put out dangerous fires; their job is to ensure that the right proportion of each intersectional category is represented in the ranks of the Fire Department.
Called it. Here's @MayorOfLA claiming that the $17.5 million she cut from the budget " really did not impact what we've been going through over the last few days." pic.twitter.com/lhRs3WUbZR

Politicians like Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom don't see themselves as careful managers whose job it is to improve the lives of others. They are ideologically and politically ambitious people focused on climbing the ladder, spreading the wealth around to their friends, and attacking global issues they believe are more important than the petty concerns of citizens.
The LA Fire Chief disagrees. Last December she said her department was "facing unprecedented operational challenges due to... budgetary reductions" that had "affected the Department's ability to maintain core operations" including "fire prevention..." and "the Department's… pic.twitter.com/4geiKVwb1k
