Scott Jennings Is 2024's Breakout Star

Donald Trump is, indisputably the Man of the Year.

Even Time Magazine gets it right once in a while. Expect another example in a year or two.

But if Trump is the Man of the Year, it is also true that Scott Jennings is the breakout TV star of the year, and nobody else comes close. He has become every conservative's favorite pundit--especially because he displays his political and policy chops on CNN of all stations.

I have said before and will say it again: Scott belongs on CNN, not at the podium in the White House press room or as yet another conservative at Fox News. It's not that he would bring nothing to the table at either spot--he obviously would--but because he brings so much more to CNN, where he often is the lone voice of reason.

CNN viewers get fed a steady diet of liberal pablum. Bland, stupid, repetitive, and bad for the gut. Scott stands out because he knows what he is talking about--something none of his colleagues appear capable of. While they repeat whatever lines are handed to them by the interns typing up talking points, Jennings not only drops truth bombs but even brings up facts that most conservatives couldn't.

Most TV commentators of any political stripe are midwits. They tell the audiences what they want to hear or toe the line the establishment is pushing--and yes, there is a Republican establishment too. Scott may get the same talking points others do in his email box, but he doesn't repeat them as a mantra.

I almost never bother watching clips of political panels because I already know what is going to be said. What's the point? But when I run across a clip of Jennings battling a bunch of liberals I know it is going to be entertaining and as often as not informative. I might actually learn something--which is as high a compliment as I can give for anybody who shows up on a political panel.

Scott also does something that too few others do: while remaining much more civil than I could under the circumstances, he doesn't mince words. You can often see his fellow panelists wince as he pokes holes and pops their bubble. They won't be persuaded--they are basically NPCs whose job it is to shill for those above them--but they know he scored a point.

It's incredibly valuable to have a spokesman for our cause sitting across from the propagandists. Just as the boy who blurts out that the King is wearing no clothes, he is able to break the spell that the Pravda Media is trying to cast on its viewers.

And let's be honest: it's just fun to watch in a way that watching most other conservatives preaching to the choir is not. Seeing the same point made countless times to other conservatives is a bore. Scott is never boring.

Which is why I see clips of Jennings in my X feed more than just about anybody else, left or right. It used to be the ladies of The View popping up all the time, given that their antics can be similarly entertaining, although for different reasons. But even their shtick has gotten boring; "Look! Whoopi Goldberg says something stupid again" doesn't hold the charm it once did.

Scott: don't leave CNN. Where else could you do more good or be so entertaining?
