Identity Politics a Luxury Belief

One of the most interesting phenomena of the 2024 election is the accelerating collapse of identity politics.

As identity politics has become a driving force among white-overeducated voters, the working class has begun to abandon them. Black, Latino, gays and lesbians and most minority groups are opening their eyes to the fraud.

Latino voters have been leading the way in this trend, but you see it in the black community, anti-alphabet gays, and union members--all of whom have been drifting away from Democrats as they realize that the woke are virtue signaling and utterly uninterested in making their lives better.

AWFLs seem to be the biggest exception to this, which tells me that identity politics have become a luxury belief. Affluent white women are now obsessed with race, gender, sexual preference, and pronouns while everybody else is done with DEI and all the madness attached to it.

Black voters are the least likely to have abandoned Democrats--they still favor Democrats by wide margins--but the margins are slipping fast, and loyalty and habit are likely much more powerful reasons for sticking with the Democrats than something like DEI.

White college-educated people are in love with grievance politics; everybody else, not so much. That's why Harris has been overperforming with them and underperforming with everybody else.

It's the Race 2 Dinner phenomenon. Self-hatred is rampant among affluent whites, particularly women.

There seems to have been an awakening--or perhaps a reckoning. Minority voters are done with all the virtue signaling, the pretending that saying woke things is doing anything to make life better for anybody they know or themselves materially. It's all a show.

The biggest beneficiaries of DEI are women, the alphabet crowd, and the hypereducated minorities. A few more black CEOs or Harvard grads does nothing for the vast majority who are working class. Statistically speaking, the number of Harvard or Yale students is essentially zero. There are only 500 Fortune 500 CEOs, so what does the color of the CEO matter to people struggling to pay for groceries?

The big lie of DEI is that it helps ordinary minorities of any stripe. It's privileged people helping privileged people, leaving everybody else behind. Google hiring 10 extra Latino software engineers means nothing, except for the ten white and Asian software engineers who were rejected.

When the chips are down, words don't matter. Even affirmative action is marginal. If the economy sucks, it sucks, especially for people on the edge. Whose life did BLM riots make better? Gwen Walz, not the minority business owners who lost everything.

Grievance mongers are losing their power, except among the white wealthy people who revel in pretending to "do the work." That's why Latinos and blacks are leaving the Democratic Party in droves.

Life was good under Donald Trump. Life is worse now. That is all that matters.
