California Bans Parody Videos

No, I am not joking. Gavin Newsom is bragging about it. Parody videos about politicians are now illegal.

Babylon Bee, watch out.

Newsom's brag about banning parody videos refers specifically to one shared by Elon Musk, who shared it again as a big F-U to Governor Gavin:

It is shocking how quickly the attack on free speech has rolled out over the past couple of years. Initially the attack was through proxies--bullying social media sites to suppress speech disliked by the government and private "misinformation" specialists funded through the government.

Now, governments around the world are literally criminalizing speech. In the UK, they are jailing people for Facebook posts and even "likes," talking about extraditing Americans for their social media posts and labeling people terrorists for rather anodyne speech.

California's law is one more step toward creating an American Stasi. Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Hillary Clinton have all endorsed silencing Americans and using the power of the government to do it.

The Democrats' entire campaign this year (and last) is based on provable hoaxes, whether it is the "fine people" hoax, the "bloodbath hoax," the "injecting bleach" hoax, or any number of other known lies. Imagine if these people were in charge in 2020--the New York Post's Hunter Biden laptop story wouldn't just have been silenced; it might have been criminalized.

Too many people believe, naively, that "it couldn't happen here." Yet the Democrats and their media minions are openly calling for precisely this. It's not a hidden agenda. It is right there out in the open.

It is shocking to me how quickly the left transformed from a center-left party into what amounts to a fascist one. Fascism is characterized by close ties between corporations and government, speech control, authoritarianism, and generally militarism. Pretty much what the Democrats push, now that the Democrats are the pro-war party.

The one thing missing is nationalism since their vision is profoundly transnational, although there is a transparent racialist element to their appeal, although surprisingly anti-white racialism. If fascism came to America, one would have predicted that it would be driven by white identitarianism, but it turns out that CRT and "antiracism" are how it is being introduced.

Still, here we are. Speech is being criminalized, and the Harris/Walz team is promising to make these efforts go nationwide.

Chances are that the Supreme Court will strike down bans on speech, but in the meantime, people will be intimidated and perhaps prosecuted for sharing parodies. They will spend thousands of dollars and hours defending themselves against an unconstitutional ban on their speech, and we can't count on the Democrats to stop trying to shut us up by any means necessary.

Look at Biden and his efforts to cancel student loans. No amount of Supreme Court rulings has forced him to stop trying to do something explicitly unconstitutional. The courts don't have the guns; the executive branch has all the enforcement powers.

I don't know about you, but I find this frightening.
