Moments after an assassin was caught after the Secret Service thwarted his attempt on Trump's life the left picked up right where they left off, even ramping up the rhetoric.
I can't read their minds, but they sure seemed disappointed that Trump wasn't taken out, or to use Representative Dan Goldman's words, "eliminated."

There are tons of examples of liberals bemoaning the fact that Trump keeps getting shot at, not because they worry about the possibility that Trump might get hit, but because they worry that people who take a shot at the king without killing him rarely achieve their goals.
If only Trump were dead, he would no longer be a "danger to democracy."
Doocy, after KJP AGAIN calls Trump a “threat."

"How many more assass*nation attempts on Trump until the President, Vice President, and you pick a different word other than ‘threat?'"
“Your question is incredibly dangerous."

"Will no one rid me of this turbulent" presidential candidate?"
Rick Wilson, of The Lincoln Project, literally called for somebody to "put a bullet" in Trump back in 2023, which, of course, somebody tried to do in Butler, PA, and he still is featured on TV and taken seriously as a political commentator.
Flashback to Lincoln Project cofounder Rick Wilson in 2023:

"They're still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump."
The mainstream media has the audacity to say that Trump's rhetoric incites violence. pic.twitter.com/8mr21HhgU7
And now we have mainstream media commentators blaming Trump for being a target of hatred because he says things they don't like. If he would only shut up, or preferably die, all this drama would be over.
The Democrats and their partners in mainstream media, need to take ownership of this for their continued rhetoric about President Trump. https://t.co/I1ecNRTL5r

For years the left has engaged in what amounts to assassination pornography, and they justify it by pointing at Trump. Trump enrages them, so it is perfectly reasonable to fantasize about his being murdered. And if they are fantasizing about it, of course others are too and hence it is all Trump's fault.
You see the logic, right? I don't, actually.
Newspapers are actually printing headlines suggesting that Routh, the second assassin, was driven by idealism. He may have been a bit zealous, but he did it in a righteous cause so you really can forgive him.
The Dallas Morning News reprint of WaPo is basically what is going on everywhere. The NYT describes the shooter as a crusader of causes… pic.twitter.com/QRCBDmpaHI

"Journalists" are worried that Trump may actually benefit from getting shot at, and isn't that a shame? This wouldn't be a problem, of course, if he had the simple decency to die.

The Dallas Morning News got so much flack for their headline they actually apologized.
I'm old enough to remember when assassination attempts were a big deal that would break the news cycle.
— Michael Mammoth 🇺🇸 (@MichaelMammoth) September 17, 2024
Violence from the left is now so normalized that the attempted assassination of the republican presidential candidate barely makes the news and journalists cheer it on.
Of course they won't SAY that--quite. Everybody deplores violence; it's just that Trump deserves it, you know. He is a bad dude, just like Corn Pop.
Each of these outlets is doing what it can to get him and other Americans killed. https://t.co/vlQcu0AHo4

Some media figures are sly about their wish for Trump to be taken out. Others, not so much. Yet all of them are unified in the belief that Trump's mere existence is incites violence, even if it is solely directed at him. Trump says stuff, people shoot at him, so it must be his fault.
These words are carefully chosen. Rep. Dan Goldman isn’t calling for Donald Trump to be defeated. Dan called for Trump to be eliminated on national TV.

Kick him out of Congress. pic.twitter.com/kj2Q3e1q6G
Shut up, Trump, and perhaps we will let you live. In a jail cell, of course. We have to jail and bankrupt you, but we'll let you live.
This isn’t easy to write, but it needs to be written.
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) September 17, 2024
The sad truth is this: It’s not at all surprising that someone would try to kill him. I mean, think about it. Every day for 9yrs, he’s spewed hate, spread division, and incited violence like no other. Every day. Ever since he…
The MSM and the Democrats are also unified in the belief that Trump and his supporters should accept the violence directed against the former president because, well, he deserves it. We shouldn't be angry about any of this because we are all deplorables and deserve what comes at us.
Any notice or comment about how murderous the left has become is taking advantage of the situation.
Wolf Blitzer: "The Trump campaign is seizing on this apparent assassination attempt as a way to rile up his base."

Or, ya know, we're a little angry that people keep trying to MURDER President Trump. pic.twitter.com/Xv540CXgqT
The amazing thing is that these people have been successfully brainwashed into believing these absurdities, or even worse, that political and media figures have willingly joined the brainwashing project to convince others of this outrageous belief.
The fact that the miserable fascist creeps are sometimes endangered by the violent energies they themselves have unleashed on the country doesn’t change the fact that they are the ultimate source of almost all our troubles
— Will Stancil (@whstancil) September 16, 2024
Leftists taking shots at Donald Trump would suggest, perhaps, that calling Trump "Hitler," "an existential threat" to America and the world, and a dictator in waiting who plans to put Democrats in concentration camps might inspire the less hinged among them to do something about the threat.
In fact, Ryan Routh used the "threat to democracy" line to explain why Trump should be killed. Sound familiar?
Most, if not all, these people know what they are doing. Some--the less intellectually endowed among them like Joy Reid and the harridans on The View, likely don't. They are useful idiots.
But, by all appearances, they want Trump gone, and if taking him out gets the job done, they seem happy to see people try to do the deed. This time around, few even bothered to mouth the words that violence is always wrong. They went straight to blaming Trump.
I'm done giving them the benefit of the doubt. They sure look like they want him dead. They act like they want him dead. They aren't even providing him the protection he needs as a target of both domestic and foreign threats.
What else can I conclude?
