The controversy over cats and geese being eaten by Haitian migrants in Springfield, OH isn't going to be dying down anytime soon.
Both sides of the political aisle see an advantage to having the controversy continue: Democrats believe that Trump beclowned himself by spewing nonsense (or what appears to be nonsense to many) about people eating cats, and Republicans (at least MAGA Republicans) believe that the controversy has focused attention on how open borders have harmed the quality of life for ordinary Americans.
Into this controversy, the CBS Morning show (people watch this dreck?!) accidentally threw Donald Trump a bone: they did a sickly sweet story about a lonely goose and one woman's successful efforts to find her a mate.
Watch, if you can stand it.
Every creature deserves companionship — including Blossom, a goose who lives at a pond in an Iowa cemetery.

When Blossom’s companion Bud died, she experienced grief as evident as any human’s. That’s when cemetery general manager Dorie stepped in to find Blossom a new partner. pic.twitter.com/MImJfEswA8
Aside from being made for mentally retarded and emotionally labile viewers, the heartstring-pulling story reminded people of how much they like animals and appreciate the fact of having ducks, swans, and songbirds populating our cities. A little touch of nature makes us smile.
There is little doubt that the Haitian refugees are eating the ducks of Springfield, and anybody who responds to the treacle that CBS feeds its viewers should be reminded of this fact. If lonely ducks move the viewers to tears, imagine what beheaded ducks in a local park might do for them.

Now, I like geese as much as the next guy, and I have no problem with Haitians as individuals. Every person is different and we shouldn't paint with too broad a brush. I am sure that among the freeloaders in Springfield are many perfectly decent and hardworking individuals.
But as a group, picked up from a broken culture without any understanding of American norms, 20,000 migrants in a city of 60,000 is not going to end well for the American citizens. New York is groaning under the weight of illegal migrants, who amount to 1 for every 380 New Yorkers; in Springfield, the ratio is 1 out of 4.
On Twitter/X, I have seen plenty of lefties calling the residents of Springfield a bunch of xenophobic losers, but as with the residents of Martha's Vineyard, not one of them would tolerate anything like this in their neighborhoods. Of that, I am totally certain.
This says something interesting: the same people whose eyes well up in tears over the troubles of a lonely goose are totally indifferent to the sufferings of their fellow Americans.
Perhaps, then, we should make them think of the geese! If you are indifferent to the residents of Springfield, please think of the geese!
Ugh. We live in the stupidest reality.
