Democrats are in a terrible bind. On the one hand, they don't want to vote for the SAVE Act, which is aimed at preventing illegal aliens from voting. 

On the other, they don't want to say that it's OK for illegal aliens to vote. 

What to do?

Just assert that it isn't a problem because it is already illegal for illegal aliens to vote. And since it is illegal, nothing should be done to prevent it. 

It's a compelling argument. Nobody uses fentanyl because it is illegal. Nobody murders anybody because it is illegal. There is no crime at all, because crime is illegal. So let's defund the police (unnecessary, right?), remove all the locks on doors, walk in sketchy areas at night, and leave all the bank vaults open because nobody would consider violating the LAW, right?

Not to put too fine a point on it, but illegal aliens have already demonstrated a willingness to break our laws, so I am pretty sure a minor barrier like an almost-never-enforced law making voter fraud illegal is unlikely to stop them. 

Just as we take reasonable precautions like locking our doors, taking care to stay in safe areas, avoid flashing cash around a group of strangers, and all the other reasonable precautions any rational person takes to avoid danger, we need to take steps to preserve the integrity of our elections. 

Almost every other country in the world does. Why not here in the United States?

Democrats keep telling us that election shenanigans don't exist, yet every time a Republican wants to close a loophole they scream bloody murder. 

Why? I can't imagine. Can you?

Let's assume, for one second and against all common sense, that literally nobody has ever wanted to rig the election through illegal means (ask Chicagoans or Texans during Johnson's elections, or...). Let's pretend it is a made-up problem. 

So what? Vast numbers of Americans have doubts about the fairness of our system, and there are simple and common ways to ensure voter integrity that don't burden people unduly. We know this because almost every democracy in the world uses them, and produces elections that almost nobody questions. 

Like voter ID, citizenship checks, and paper ballots hand counted—auditable systems. 

Imagine how much less strife there would be if EVERYBODY had similar confidence in the process. No more "election denial" and lots more trust. It would even be cheaper than these insecure voting machines. 

So why do Democrats scream bloody murder every time we want to create more confidence in the system? 

I think we all know why, including the Democrats.

The go-to answer the Democrats give is that election security is "racism," but that is a joke. It is a scam. It is an insult to all Black people to claim they can't figure out how to get an ID. 

Democrats insist that nobody cheats, and let's take them at their word and meet them in the middle. Let's find a mutually agreed upon set of rules that EVERYBODY thinks is fair. It's been done all over the world, and could be done here too. 

It'll never happen, though.

We all know why.
