The gaslighting is strong in this campaign.

I have written quite a bit about this over the past week or so, and surely I will again. But I want to talk about a subset of the lies being told and how they get injected into the public discussion, in this case, with more subtlety than the outright lies being told by the mainstream media and the left.

I want to look at two examples of how the Establishment created stories out of thin air to undermine the Trump campaign. The first was pushed by the Associated Press in a wholly invented "fact check," and the second given life by FBI Director Christopher Wray.

The AP "fact check" in question was amazing. 

Out of the blue they posted a "fact check" about an event that never happened, was not in the public consciousness, and that was entirely based on some planted and ignored Facebook post by some obscure account. Obviously somebody posted a claim, informed the Associated Press, and they ran with a "fact check" on a claim that literally nobody ever heard. 

They injected a false story into the public sphere, and then Kamala Harris fan accounts started pushing the story nobody had ever heard of. 

Now the Left is using this excuse--"it's in the media..."--to create a meme that is based on literally nothing. Totally invented, pushed by the Associate Press briefly (they took down the "fact check" almost immediately, apologizing but creating an excuse surely intentionally. It is now everywhere on the left.

You will surely see this repeated endlessly, often but not always with the "there is no proof it happened, but...", to leave an impression of "where there is smoke, there is fire." It was intentional, but few people are paying close attention to the technique, so it just floats into the public consciousness. 

Sleazy as all get out, and what makes it interesting is not that a rumor was started--political campaigns have done this forever--but that the Associated Press collaborated with it.

Even stories purporting to discuss the fiasco are either intentionally or unintentionally injecting this truly weird idea into the public consciousness. It will spread, and that was the intent. The "fact" isn't important, but rather that people are discussing it. It is a stealth smear, created by the Associated Press for the benefit of the Harris team. 

Another example, and just as transparent once you understand how the Establishment works, is Christopher Wray's implication that Donald Trump might not have been hit by a bullet. 

Obviously Christopher Wray--the Director of the FBI, knows that Trump was hit by a bullet. But saying before Congress that he might not have been injected the idea into the public consciousness, bringing it out of the fringes and into the public consciousness. 

The FBI retracted the statement, admitting that Trump was hit by a bullet, but did it in a written statement once the story had been widely reported. Wray legitimized a left-wing conspiracy theory, and the press release retracting the ridiculous claim came well after the story was spread. 

The FBI did the same thing with the Hunter Biden laptop--which it KNEW was genuine--but withheld this information for years. And, of course, the whole Russian collusion hoax came from a James Comey leak about the Steele Dossier, which it always knew was a hoax. They rode that one for 3 years.

Sleazy. And this is the Director of the FBI, who is INVESTIGATING the assassination attempt and weaponizing the investigation to alter the Narrative. These are stealth smears. Nothing is "proven," but the Narrative is either shaped, reshaped, or muddled as the Establishment wants. 

It's straight out of information warfare tactics that our intelligence community and the military use against our enemies. You and I, and indeed the entire American people, are the "danger" that is now targeted. And the mainstream media has joined the brainwashing operation. 

No matter how much you despise the Establishment, it is not enough. They see the public as sheep to be herded, not citizens to be respected. 

Remember that. Always.
