Yesterday, the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released an 800-page interim report on how government officials went on a rampage, threatening Big Tech companies with severe consequences if they didn't censor Americans regarding a wide range of issues. 

Especially regarding COVID. They censored true information. They censored opinions. They censored satire. 

The government officials wielded their power with impunity, censoring anything they deemed fit. The Big Tech companies, fearing severe consequences, complied. This was a situation where the 'trust and safety' people within the companies, who are often criticized for their decisions, were overshadowed by the overreach of government officials.

There is zero ambiguity about this. Time and again, the companies' internal emails show that they were scared of the Biden administration, which openly discussed using regulation to force changes to how the companies worked. 

Censor, or else. They harangued, screamed, and swore, dropping the F-bomb at executives. It would be sobering to get a call from the White House from an irate top official with the power to destroy your company.
