By now, you have probably heard that California has extended its version of Medicaid to include free health care for illegal immigrants.

It’s a bold move, given that the state’s budget is nearly $70 billion in deficit. Nothing says “fiscal responsibility” more than inviting the entire world into your state for free medical care.

What most people don’t know is that Medi-Cal offers “gender-affirming care” as part of its benefits package, meaning that any random person from anywhere in the world can cross our porous border and get a free sex change operation and “gender-affirming care” at taxpayer expense.

It has been revealed that sex changes and hormone therapy will be included in the healthcare coverage offered to illegal immigrants in California. As of January 1, everyone, regardless of whether they entered the country via legal means, will qualify for Medi-Cal, the state‘s public health insurance program. This program had typically been reserved for low-income individuals, families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, people in foster care, pregnant women, and low-income people with diseases such as tuberculosis, cancer, or HIV/AIDS.

Prior to the new rules, illegal immigrants were only able to access emergency and pregnancy-related care, however surgical and non-surgical procedures that “bring primary and secondary gender characteristics into conformity with the individual’s identified gender, including ancillary services, such as hair removal” are now covered as well.

Don’t worry, though. California will only pay for this service when “medically necessary,” and as those of us who have deeply researched this issue know, the definition of medical necessity is very strict in California. So strict, in fact, that if your son has ever played with a doll, he is eligible.

By now, it is abundantly clear that medical necessity, mental health, and all the excuses used to justify sterilizing and mutilating children have nothing to do with the alphabet mafia’s motives. What is really at play here is a toxic combination of virtue signaling, antinatalism, and the gold rush of gender surgeries.

Vanderbilt, for instance, got into the gender-affirming care business strictly for the money. They said so.

California taxpayers have been on the hook for scam after scam, watching their tax dollars go to useless or harmful projects that accomplish nothing but shift a lot of money around to Democrat allies. San Francisco famously spends $60,000 or more to set up TENTS for homeless people–per tent.

Somehow homelessness gets worse. Go figure. Homeless people are big business for the bureaucrats and nonprofits, and the worst thing that could happen to them is fewer homeless people.

The same is true for the providers of “gender-affirming care.” California is now importing customers from around the world so the state can use taxpayer dollars to prop up the profits of the medical industry, which not coincidentally funnels some of that loot back to politicians.

One of the least talked about issues with the illegal immigrant surge is just how much federal loot is being shoveled at for- and non-profits who provide transportation, services, and housing for the illegal migrants. Mayor Adams keeps telling us about how many billions New York City is spending on illegal aliens–you don’t think most of that money is going directly to the illegals, do you?

No, most of it goes to “service providers” who are making out like bandits. How much of that loot will be skimmed off the top to pay for political organizations, campaign ads, and on-the-ground get-out-the-vote efforts this fall?

Quite a bit, I would expect.

It’s not just ideology–although that is a big part of the issues–but also the antinatalism of the Left (sterilizing children) and the big money that has been sloshing around.

No matter how evil you think it is, you don’t know the half of it.
