WaPo Guild Walks Off Job on December 7th

Democracy is going to die in darkness on December 7th. It will be a date that lives in infamy!

All you preppers out there: I now freely admit you were right to stock up on guns, ammo, liquor, and dried food. I am not sure how I will survive the day.

The Washington Post Guild, the union for WaPo virtue signalers, announced that they would be holding a walkout on December 7th.

While not quite as big a danger as the insurrection that almost brought down our country on January 6th, 2021, the effects may still reverberate for decades to come. A day without Taylor Lorenz’s insight or Jennifer Rubin’s yeoman’s work defending the Democrat establishment might prove to be devastating to millions of liberals starving for content that reaffirms their deeply held beliefs or tells them what those beliefs are.

Imagine a world where both The New York Times’ and The Washington Post’s reporters took a day off…that might be worse than an insurrection. Especially now that Rachel Maddow is not on daily and Mehdi Hassan is off the air. Liberals’ heads might explode.

The Post’s guild published an analysis of their union’s members; the average salary is $112,000, and the median is around $100,000. This is neither particularly good nor particularly bad for the Washington, D.C., area. It is hardly a princely sum, nor is it slave wages.

Granted, the average WaPo reporter makes less than a full-time UPS driver, but then again, a UPS driver performs a service we actually benefit from. Getting lied to is not something I appreciate.

My attitude about this pay dispute between management and labor at the Post reminds me of the famous Henry Kissinger quote about the Iran-Iraq war: “It is a pity they can’t both lose.”

The funniest bit about the guild’s complaint is this: they claim that the Post’s management is racist and sexist. I can’t judge the claim’s veracity, but it’s funny either way. Either the Washington Post is run by racists and sexists, in which case I say “Shut up about how racist and sexist America is,” or the guild is lying, to which I say, “Shut up about how we should trust you to report the truth.”

Actually, I’ll say “Shut up!” to both parties anyway. The world is better off without either of these parties sharing their thoughts and opinions.

Mark Judge, who was viciously slandered in the pages of the Post during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, floated a great idea to celebrate the walkout: contribute to his GoFundMe so he can share the story behind the story.

Maybe that will hit the Post where it really hurts.
