Ed is off doing Ed things this week, so Duane had to deal with a second-stringer for the Week in Review.
That would be me. Next time around Duane has promised to include Beege into the mix, and that would be fun. Duane will bring the passion, I will bring pseudo-intellectuality, and Beege will bring the snark. What could be more fun?
As you might guess the conversation was very Israel war-centric, not because either of us is excited about war, but because the Israel-Gaza conflict has revealed enormous cracks in the society as a whole and in the Democrat coalition. Cracks that not only reveal a lot about where things stand in society today, but where things may be going in the future.
We also got into the TikTok/Osama bid Laden fiasco–which of course is just another arm of the cultural crisis octopus–and how it (not so coincidentally) coincides with Xi Jinping’s visit to San Francisco.
Duane and I are both worried that Israel is going to face a bigger problem once they defeat Hamas: they have to find a way to get out of Gaza without facing the same problems down the road. Contrary to the Left’s claims, Israel wants nothing to do with running the Gaza Strip or occupying it. It is a powder keg.
So how can they exit without handing it back to Islamists? I speculate they will try to cut a deal with the Palestinian Authority based in the West Bank. They hate Hamas as much as Israel does.
There’s lots more in there, and Duane is always fun to talk to.
